Nasar Abogados picks out ISFIN for Guatemala

news

Tomás Nassar P., President of NASSAR ABOGADOS CENTROAMERICA and Prof. Laurent Marlière, CEO of ISFIN announced a joined professional offer for the Central American market of Guatemala. The advisory practice of ISFIN teamed with NASSAR ABOGADOS’ technical expertise will bring a unique resource to develop the attraction power of the Investment market in Guatemala.

The stock of inward FDI in Guatemala was estimated by UNCTAD at USD 16.3 billion in 2018. Although Guatemala's IDF fluctuates widely, it has continued to raise an average of nearly $300 million per year since 2010. The main investing countries are the United States, Mexico, Colombia and Luxembourg. But Guatemala is also supported by free trade agreements with the United States and the EU, and its strategic location and good business environment make it attractive. There are also eight free economic zones in Guatemala, which offer tax incentives to investors.

According to Laurent Marlière, Guatemala, as other Central American countries, is on the radar of Middle Eastern and Asian investors looking at combining yields and security in their investments. Guatemala economic players need to diversify their flow of investments and learn more about opportunities arising in Asia and the Middle East. It is eloquent that Dubai Chamber has recently opened an office in Panama to supervise operations in Central America.

Foreign investors must be accompanied by experienced legal & tax consultants with an in-depth knowledge of the Guatemalan market and an understanding of the sophistication of different Central American industries and international companies.
